MEL is Melanin’s engagement token. In the mobile wallet it appears next to your cash balance as “MEL Token,” a simple way to see momentum from your audience, not a separate bank account.

Copy shown in the app: MEL tokens are earned from likes and engagement on your posts and videos. Convert MEL to real money anytime. Conversion paths follow product availability, regional rules, and verification.

Earning is tied to real engagement: reactions, comments, saves, shares, and meaningful watch time on posts and live sessions. Event activity (RSVPs, attendance signals where implemented) can contribute when those features are enabled for your account.

Artificial inflation, including bots, loops, purchased engagement, or coordinated abuse, violates platform rules and can zero out balances or suspend payouts after review.

Your wallet separates total balance, available funds, and any amounts pending review, similar to the “Available” versus held portions of the balance overview in the app. MEL may convert into available cash only after fraud checks and policy screens pass.

Large or sudden changes can trigger manual review to protect creators and buyers.

When conversion is offered in your region, you will see an exchange or withdraw path from the wallet. Rates, fees, and minimums depend on processors and local regulations. Always confirm on screen before you confirm a transaction.

Tax reporting may be required in your jurisdiction; keep records of payouts.

Melanin may delay, reverse, or claw back value tied to chargebacks, payment disputes, or policy violations, including content that is illegal, deceptive, or harmful. Repeated abuse can lead to loss of monetization features.
